Attleboro, MA – If anyone had any doubt about the benefit of having a strong and well organized team before they showed up to the Attleboro Criterium, then they were certainly convinced afterwards. With an impressive show of force, the Hottubes team toed up to the line with a full squad and immediately launched an interminable series of attacks. MetLife’s representative Peter Bell, at first attempted to peel himself off the front with the Hottubes team. They would have none of it, and it seemed that many of the other racers, still stiff from a difficult Fitchburg weekend, were more than willing to allow Hottubes to run the show. While resting from a previous attempt, the winning break made its way off the front of the peloton, with only Hottubes riders in it. Despite forming a small chase group for several laps with Skip Foley, Peter Bradshaw, and later Mark McCormack, Bell was unable to reach the break. Back in the group he set up for a bunch sprint, and despite losing a couple of spots in the penultimate corner, Bell was able to make a decent result out of a poor situation, finishing 9th.
