MetLife Green

While trolling for our latest results or peeking at our profiles, you might have noticed a new accent on the homepage. The MetLife cycling team has gone green. With help from our new partners at Brighter Planet, we’ve off set the amount of CO2 the team creates traveling to races. You may be asking: how serious are you guys? You still drive places, right? Indeed we do. But we ride our bikes a lot and whether it be for training or commuting, it gives us insights into the greater world around us – that world has seemed a touch different as of late. Witness last year’s quick course change at the Green Mountain Stage Race where significant flooding rendered the Middlebury Gap an impassable mess. (It hasn’t improved much in a year, incidentally.) A single weather event can’t be the result of climate change but scientists point to more extreme meteorological events and an increase in heavy rain as side effects of warmer air. This is bad news and why we’ve lent out some real estate on the team kit to promote 350.org, our other green partner. 350.org is a grassroots effort to push climate change legislation world wide. 350.org has a better chance at success than any single other climate change group and we’re proud to be a part of it. For more information, check out the new green page and stay tuned for more green initiatives coming your way from MetLife cycling and our sustainable partners.
