Partners

Our partners prove that just because they don’t necessarily race a bike doesn’t mean they’re not on the roster.  While each of our 10 team riders is vital to our success on the bike, it’s the partners who support us and, essentially, make our program possible.

For 2010 we are thrilled to be working with an ensemble of some of the world’s most well-known and respected brands.  They support us financially, logistically, and emotionally, each sharing our vision, excited about our potential, and believing in us.

MetLife Insurance Company

Our partnership with MetLife is an ideal fit: in a great bicycle race there are a lot of “ifs.”  Being prepared, focused and diligent is the only way to push through the uncertain.  Today, a time when consumers are feeling a greater financial burden than ever before, MetLife is helping millions of customers create their own personal safety net against the uncertainty.  We’re pleased to represent the perseverance, diligence and untarnished reputation of the MetLife brand.  We believe in the values of this company based on more than 138 years of integrity, social responsibility, strong leadership and financial strength.

S&W Sports

For several years, S&W has enjoyed an outstanding reputation as the best ski and bike shop in the Concord region and with good reason.  Nobody does more for regional competitive bicycle racing, ski racing, and even skateboarding than Tim and his crew at S&W.

One of New England’s top Trek dealers, look for S&W Sports to carry the complete line of Madones and Equinox time trial bikes, the same machines the team will be using this season.  A couple of minutes from I-93, S&W is a must-stop for any serious cyclist passing through Concord.

Echappe Equipment

Échappé Equipment provides athletes the opportunity to use high-end cycling wheels and equipment through a unique rental program. This program gives athletes the chance to experience the benefits of equipment that would otherwise be inaccessible to them. Elite equipment is prohibitively expensive to entry-level athletes who are unwilling to buy or uncertain about their level of commitment when the activity is so costly. Consequently, Échappé’s rental program provides the best of both worlds; the customers will be able to experience high-end equipment benefits while not being pressured into buying the product.

Shimano

We noticed that when cyclists are trying cycling products, the feedback is often the same, “This is almost as good as Shimano.”  It’s easy to see why Shimano is the benchmark for all other cycling gruppos- the products that adorn the bikes of the MetLife p/b groSolar team are more akin to machinery than toys.  On a New England based cycling team, parts that don’t get their feelings hurt when the weather turns aggressive  are a requirement.  With our Shimano partnership, we’ll be in a good mood all season.

HED

The wheel may be the most revolutionary structure known to man. Depending on which history books you read, the wheel originated in Mesopotamia sometime around 3500 BC. We had to hang around until 1985, however, before someone finally got around to perfecting it. That someone was Steve Hed.

Now, 20 years later, HED cycling products designs and manufactures 16 different models of composite wheels, exported worldwide and used in events from the Tour de France to the Hawaii Ironman to the pretigious North Oaks triathlon championship. Every single wheel is still handmade. Minnesota sure is a long way from Mesopotamia, but some things never change.

Minuteman Road Club

The Minuteman Road Club (MRC) is a cycling and triathlon club located in the Metrowest region of Massachusetts. The club’s philosophy revolves around encouraging competitive and recreational riders to experience the beauty of cycling firsthand. The club provides like-minded riders with a supportive group of enthusiasts to learn to race, join casual group rides and center social activities around cycling.

Since 1985, the Minuteman Road Club has provided a structure by which it’s members may participate in cycling and multi-sport activities, either competitively or recreationally.

Our partnership with MRC bridges the gap between a large, well-established club and an elite level cycling team. Both organizations bring to the table unique qualities to help promote cycling to the community and beyond. Their collective goal is to increase awareness, participation and the quality of events in cycling. The MetLife Cycling Team is proud to be involved with such an excellent organization.
