Charles McCarthy took first place in the stage one time trial of the men’s Category 2 division at the 49thFitchburg/Longsjo Stage Race. Topping the list of 111 starters, McCarthy clocked a winning time of 16:48 for the mostly uphill 6.55 mile course. Second place was more than 16 seconds back. This would have seated him in 21st place in the Pro/1 race. Scott Dolmat-Connell was 56 seconds back, taking 15th on the stage.
