The MetLife Team returned to the fray after a rest day for the Trek Waterloo Classic.
With a deceiving profile, the course featured several sharp corners in addition to a short
gradual climb whose narrow roads created more of a selection than the climb itself. With
more severe thunderstorms threatening, the MetLife boys rolled off for another 90 minute
slugfest.
Once everyone settled in, it was clear that the race would come down to a sprint, and with
6 laps to go the team prepared itself at the front. With no less than 6 team members at
the front for the next several laps the MetLife team looked to have the race on lock-down.
Unfortunately, as the last laps wound down, the jostling began in earnest and one by one
we were dislodged from the front. With a last surge Austin managed to bring himself to
the front with less than one lap to go, but when he looked back to let the sprinters start the
work they had all been dislodged from his wheel.
More lessons learned, the MetLife boys will attack the Greenbush Road Race, a lumpy 82
mile 10 mile circuit through the heartland of Wisconsin.n in earnest,n 6 team members at
